DIRECTIONS FROM SAN FRANCISCO AIRPORT
Follow signs from airport to Interstate 280 toward San Francisco. From 280, take Hwy. 1 (Junipero Serra Blvd. to 19th Avenue) which will take you into San Francisco and through Golden Gate Park.
Follow signs to Golden Gate Bridge (you're still on Hwy. 1, which is now also Hwy. 101 and cross slowly, both to take in the view and to avoid a $250 ticket for exceeding the 45 mph speed limit. This is the toll free direction.
Stay on Hwy. 101 through Marin County, and into Sonoma County. Go through Santa Rosa, and exit at River Road / Mark West Road, which is at the northern edge of Santa Rosa. Go left at the stop sign and head west toward Guerneville. (DO NOT take Guerneville Road Exit.) Follow the directions below to Cazadero.
DIRECTIONS FROM OAKLAND AIRPORT
Leaving the Oakland Airport, follow signs to Hwy. 880 North. Follow Hwy 880 north through Oakland to Hwy. 580 (Richmond /San Rafael Bridge, $2 toll). Make sure you are in one of the two right lanes for this exit. Take Hwy. 580 west across the bridge to Hwy. 101 North. Proceed north to the River Road / Mark West exit at the north end of the city of Santa Rosa. Exit onto River Road, turning left at the traffic signal. Follow the directions below to Cazadero.
DIRECTIONS FROM SACRAMENTO
Take 80 East toward San Francisco.
Exit at Highway 12, which will make several turns and eventually combine with Highway 121.
At the Highway 12/Highway 116 split, take Highway 116 toward Petaluma. In Petaluma, turn onto Highway 101 north. Follow the directions below to Cazadero.
DIRECTIONS to CAZADERO FROM HIGHWAY 101
Take 101 North to the Russian River Resort Area / River Road exit and turn left on River Road, a little north of Santa Rosa. (If you pass the airport or the town of Windsor, you've gone too far!). Continue on River Road about 15 miles west through downtown Guerneville. Continue west on what is now Main Street, which is also now Highway 116. From downtown Guerneville, drive 6.7 miles, staying right at the fork in Monte Rio, and turn right on either Austin Creek Road or Cazadero Highway. These are the two main roads in Cazadero and each parallels Austin Creek. There are several bridges crossing the creek from one road to the other.
Try to arrive in daylight, both to enjoy the spectacular drive down River Road and to maximize your chances of getting this right the first time! Traffic on 101 through Santa Rosa during busy times can be heavy. If you want to drive a scenic route and avoid the Santa Rosa traffic, then you can leave Highway 101 at the 116 west exit, which is the second Cotati exit. This route winds through Sebastopol (for fabulous grocery shopping, stop at Fiesta Market and Andy's Market) and up a very twisting, heavily forested road which ends up crossing the Guerneville Bridge. At this point, you turn left at the traffic light, and follow the directions through downtown Guerneville to Cazadero. The Highway 116 route takes the same amount of time as the Highway 101/River Road option.
